Avi Granite is a guitarist, composer, improviser and educator who has performed extensively across North America and Europe. Born in Toronto Canada, Granite has been based out of Brooklyn New York since 2009. As a leader Granite has released three CDs to critical acclaim, His most recent, "Avi Granite's Verse - Snow Umbrellas" is now available and features Ralph Alessi, Jerry DeVore and Owen Howard. As a composer, Granite’s music has been used in feature film and taken many forms including graphic composition. He is a graduate from NYU with a masters of music performance, where he held the position of adjunct faculty for two years. Granite studied with John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, Brad Shepik and has performed with many prominent artists. He also runs a tiny record label called Pet Mantis Records.
